49ers Run Over the Packers to Punch Ticket to Super Bowl 54
It was a dominant performance on Championship Sunday for the San Francisco 49ers as they defeat the Green Bay Packers 37-20 to secure their spot in Super Bowl 54. They'll take on the Kansas City Chiefs.
The 49ers needed just eight throws by Jimmy Garoppolo and a ton of big running from Raheem Mostert.
Mostert was undrafted and cut by multiple teams but came up huge in this one, he racked up 220 yards on 29 carries. You've got to give a ton of credit to the San Francisco offensive line, skill position players and full back Kyle Juszczyk for their ability to block and open up holes.
Everything that could have gone wrong, went wrong for Aaron Rodgers and the Packers in the first half. Rodgers fumbled a snap on a promising drive and threw an interception towards the end of the half that led to 10 SF points which set the 49ers up for a 27-0 halftime lead.
The Packers fought back in the second half putting up 20 points but the defense couldn't close up the flood gates and at that point, it didn't matter how much Green Bay scored.
Rodgers finished the game throwing for 326 yards on 31/39 passing, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. In addition, George Kittle was a non-factor in the passing game catching just one ball for 19 yards but he was a beast blocking in this one.
Congratulations to the 49ers for winning the NFC and earning their way to the Super Bowl.
