A former member of the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns coaching staff has been promoted on his current staff, that of a Sun Belt Conference football school.

Charlie Harbison has been named associate head coach at Appalachian St.

Harbison, who served as co-defensive coordinator and secondary coach at Louisiana for three seasons, from 2015-2017, spent the 2018 season as the assistant defensive backs coach for the Arizona Cardinals of the NFL.

A native of Shelby, North Carolina, Harbison joined the Appalachian St. staff last season, working as cornerbacks coach.

A former pro football player with the Boston/New Orleans Breakers in the old USFL, Harbison has 26 years of collegiate coaching experience, including stops at LSU, Clemson, Alabama, Auburn, and Mississippi St.
