Athletes Who Died Fighting For America

Today is Memorial Day. I hope everyone has taken (or will take) a moment to honor the men and women who have died for our freedom.

Pat Tillman (pictured left during a Cardinals game) is probably the most well known American athlete who was killed in action. At age 27, Tillman enlisted in the wake of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, choosing to walk away from a 3-year, $3.6 million contract extension with the Cardinals.

However, he's not the only pro athlete to die serving his Country. Over the years, several famous athletes made the ultimate sacrifice for America.
