The pick: Jon Stinchcomb

When deciding who is the best New Orleans Saints player to ever wear #78, the choice is limited to defensive linemen Billy Newsome, Elois Groom, and Shawn Knight, and offensive linemen Jerry Jones, Errol Linden, Glen Ray Hines, Jeff Walker, Kelvin Clark, Mike Keim, Tom Backes, Tom Roth, Daryl Terrell, and Jon Stinchcomb.

Our selection is going to be Stinchcomb, an offensive lineman, who played for the Saints for 8 years, from 2003-2010.

After playing his college football at Georgia, Stinchcomb was selected by the Saints in the second round of the 2003 NFL Draft.

A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Stinchcomb was a reserve in his first two NFL seasons, before becoming a starter in 2005.

After missing the entire 2005 season, due to a knee injury, Stinchcomb started all 80 games at right tackle between 2006-2010, and was named to the Pro Bowl in 2009, as a key member of a Super Bowl winning team.

The 6-foot-5, 302-pound Stinchcomb retired following the 2010 season, and has since worked as the Saints television analyst for preseason games for the past three years.

In 8 years in the NFL, all with the Saints, Stinchcomb appeared in 90 games, including 80 as a starter.
