The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns came out ragin' Tuesday night against Prairie View A&M, shooting over 60% in both halves en route to a 122-90 trashing of the Panthers in the Cajundome before an announced crowd of 3,227.

The 122 points is the most scored by a Cajuns' basketball team since the 1990-91 season.

It was the fifth straight win for the Cajuns (7-3), while the Panthers (1-9) dropped their ninth straight.

Prairie View was led by a game high 28 points by Taishaun Johnson, while leading scorer Gary Blackston added 28.  Antoine Lister scored 13 for the Panthers.

Louisiana led just 12-9 five minutes into the contest, but went on a 12-0 run over the next two and a half minutes. Cedric Russell's three point basket started the run, Gant scored six straight and Hayes scored on a traditional three point play to make the score 24-9 with 12:44 left in the first half.

The lead was 34-21 at the 9:39 mark, but Malik Marquetti hit a jumper, and Davis then took over, scoring eleven points in a 45 second span to make it 47-21 with 7:07 left in the first stanza.

The Cajuns kept the hammer down early in the second half as Gant hit a pair of free throws at the 18:10 mark that started a 17-2 run over the next three minutes.  Gant and Stroman each scored six points during the run, while Russell added five, giving the Cajuns an 82-45 lead with 15:02 to play.  The lead grew to 42 points on two different occasions in the second half.

The biggest deficit the Panthers had faced all season was 19 points prior to tonight.

The Cajuns shot 64.7% in the first half and 65.6% in the second half of the contest, including 84% (16-19) inside the three point arc.  The Cajuns also hit 22-25 from the free throw line.
