The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns fall on the road at Troy, Alabama to the Trojans 26-16.

A big game this Saturday from Veterans Memorial Stadium as the Cajuns traveled to Troy, Alabama to face the Trojans who were at the top of the Eastern division of the Sun Belt.

Not a ton of scoring to open the game as both teams exchanged fields goals on their first possessions but then it was a big play of 75 yards from Troy quarterback Sawyer Smith to Damion Willis on the score. That gave the Trojans at 10-3 lead and before the quarter ended the Cajuns got a big turnover as Sawyer Smith was pressured and threw a pitch to his back away, Koa Haynes fell on it for the takeaway.

As we got into the second quarter Louisiana, unfortunately, couldn't turn the turnover into points as kicker Kyle Pfau would miss a 39-yard field goal.

That wouldn't be the only bad thing that would happen for Louisiana because shortly after that, Levi Lewis would enter the game at quarterback and promptly fumble the football when he tried to pull it from Trey Ragas on a read-option play.

Louisiana couldn't convert their turnover into points but Troy did as it took them just two plays for running back B.J. Smith took it 12 yards to the house as they now lead 17-3.

Before the half would end Troy would go onto tack on a field goal and lead at the half 23-3.

As the second half got underway the Cajuns would start with the football and needed to make some hay and quickly. Trey Ragas would answer the bell as he scored twice to get Louisiana closer 26-16 as we played into the fourth quarter. On the second score, the Cajuns were stopped on 4th and two deep in Troy territory but an off-sides call against the Trojans negated that play and on the next one Ragas found the end zone.

From there it was a good defensive showing by both teams, the Cajuns were able to hold Troy out of the end zone the entire second half. With just under six minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, Louisiana engineered a drive that would take them down the Trojans 26-yard line needing either a field goal or a touchdown Andre Nunez was picked off with 2:10 left on the clock. That ultimately would do it as the Ragin' Cajuns would fall 26-16 at Troy.

With the loss, the Cajuns fall to 4-5 overall, 2-3 in the Sun Belt and will return home next Saturday against Georgia State at 4 pm.
