Cajuns Gun For 8th-Straight Against Appalachian St. – Inside The Numbers
Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajun men’s basketball team returns to the hardwood on Thursday night, when coach Bob Marlin’s squad travels to Boone, North Carolina to take on the Appalachian St. Mountaineers in a Sun Belt Conference match-up.
The game will be the backend of a women’s/men’s doubleheader, with the UL women taking on Appalachian St. earlier in the day.
The match-up will mark the only game of the week, and the lone game of a short road trip for Louisiana, winners of seven straight.
Tipoff time for the men’s game is set for approximately 6:30 pm at the Cajundome.

The Cajuns will be going after the regular season series sweep, after defeating the Mountaineers, 79-58, back on January 2 at the Cajundome.
Louisiana, who defeated ULM, 72-65, in overtime, on Tuesday night, is 12-8, overall, and 8-3 in league play, while Appalachian St., who lost to South Alabama last Saturday, 73-60, is currently 6-15, and 4-6, respectively.
The Cajuns are outscoring the opposition, 81.8/73.4, and outshooting them from the floor, 45%/43%, while also holding down a 42.0/33.2 rebound advantage.
Louisiana is led by senior forward Shawn Long, who is averaging 19.4 points, to go along with 13.0 rebounds-per-game, and senior guard Kasey Shepherd, who is averaging 11.3 points and 2.0 rebounds a contest.
Appalachian St. is being outscored by the opposition, 76.4/69.8, while being outshot by opponents from the floor, 45%/40%, and outrebounded, 37.9/36.1.
The Mountaineers are paced by senior guard Frank Eaves, who is scoring 20.3 points, while pulling down 3.8 rebounds-per-game.
