Duke Spent Over A Million On Charter Flights This Summer

 How much does it cost to fly the Duke basketball team on a chartered 767 flight from the U.S. to China, Shanghai, and Dubai? One airline executive estimated the cost at around $1.3 million.

Was flying 16,000 miles across three continents on a chartered flight necessary? Absolutely not, but Duke basketball fans would argue that the team brings more money and immeasurable publicity to the University. As if that makes it okay.
