There were some really good matchups in week one of the college football season.

There might be some even better ones in week two.

In fact, there are about ten games I find intriguing this weekend.  I had to narrow it down to five.

(23) TCU (-3) at ARKANSAS  2:30 CBS--There have been some who have speculated Arkansas is ready to take the next step this season.  Well, it starts with this one.  TCU is solid once again and it makes this Big 12/ SEC matchup one of the best this weekend.  This may not have anything to do with the College Football Playoff picture, but you can bet fans in the two leagues will be watching this one closely.

(13) AUBURN (+5') at (3) CLEMSON--6pm ESPN--Tigers and Tigers, oh my.  Generally recognized as the second best team in the SEC, Auburn travels to Death Valley East for the team generally recognized (in the preseason anyway) as the second best team in the ACC.  Is Clemson worthy of that #3 ranking?  They are if they win this one.

(15) GEORGIA (+4) at (24) NOTRE DAME--6:30, NBC--The Irish vaulted (?) into the top 25 after their convincing win over Temple.  Georgia's defense was shining in week one.  The health of the Bulldogs' QBs is one of the stories here.  Notre Dame fans believe their team isn't getting enough credit.  We'll find out this week if they deserve more.

MISSISSIPPI STATE (-8) at LOUISIANA TECH--6:30, CBS Sports Network--It's always intriguing when a P5 team travels to a solid G5 program.  Mississippi State wasn't highly valued in the SEC preseason poll and Joe Aillet Stadium isn't an easy place to play.  The 'Dogs from Ruston are supposed to be the best team in the league's western division.  Can they get a notch in their belt?

(5) OKLAHOMA at (2) OHIO STATE- (-7')  6:30, ABC--Are you buying OU at #5?  Honestly, I'm not.  I think they're a bit overvalued.  They have a chance to prove me wrong heading to the Horseshoe.  Make no mistake about it.  Ohio State is very, very good.  A win here would be absolutely huge for the Sooners.
