A former Louisiana Ragin' Cajun football player has been arrested on a charge of second-degree rape.

Artez Williams, a defensive back who played in 6 games for the Cajuns in 2017, is accused of the crime, which allegedly took place on campus.

A native of Greenwood, Mississippi, Williams has been booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center with a $100,000.

Williams, who accumulated 8 tackles with Louisiana last season, had already been dismissed from the squad on March 31 for violation of team rules.

Prior to signing with UL, Williams played junior college football at Itawamba Community College in Fulton, Mississippi in 2015.

Williams had 12 scholarship offers, before signing with Louisiana in February of last year.

Coming out of high school, Williams originally signed with Central Arkansas, where he played in 12 games, compiling three interceptions.
