The Ragin' Cajun Athletic Foundation today announced the hiring of Jim Harris to be the first Executive Director of the organization.  The announcement was made Friday morning in a press conference at the University of Louisiana Student Union.

Harris was selected from a group of 69 applicants.  Search committee chairman Charlie Moncla said the candidates were reduced to twelve and then the committee selected five to be interviewed.

"We interviewed the first candidate and were impressed to the point where someone questioned whether we needed to interview the other four," Moncla said. "Then the second interviewee impressed us even more and when we interviewed the third one (Harris) we knew we had our guy.  We interviewed the final two but Jim stood above them all."

Harris comes to the Foundation after serving in fundraising and development positions at Indiana University, Ohio University and the University of South Florida.

Harris will be charged with growing the Foundation in terms of the annual fund as well as securing funds to complete the UL Master Plan for Athletics.

The 36 year old Harris graduated from Indiana in 2002, received a Master's in business administration from Ohio University in 2003 and a Master's in Sports Administration from that same University in 2004.
