A former high school football coach at a school from the Acadiana area has a new job in the college ranks.

Former Carencro High School and McNeese head coach Lance Guidry, who most recently served as defensive coordinator at Southeastern Louisiana last season, has joined the coaching staff at FAU, as defensive backs coach.

A McNeese graduate and former football player, Guidry served as head coach of the Cowboys for three seasons (2016-2018) compiling an overall record of 21-12, after replacing former coach Matt Viator, who left to take the head coaching position at ULM.

McNeese finished 6-5 in 2018, Viator's final season, losing their final three games.

Prior to his time as head coach, Viator served as an assistant coach at McNeese for three seasons.

A native of Welsh, Guidry was the head coach at Carencro High School from 2005-2007.
