Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun baseball team extended their longest win streak of the season to 5 on Thursday night behind their strongest offensive game of the year, dominating ULM 14-2.

"It was a team effort," said head coach Matt Deggs. "We operated really well as a unit tonight."

A season-high 19 hits from 11 different players propelled the Cajuns offense, with 5 players having a multi-hit night, including Tyler Robertson who went 4-5 at the plate.

ULM led 1-0 in the middle of the 1st, but it was all Louisiana after that.

The Cajun scored 1 in the first, then three more in the 2nd, including this Connor Kimple homerun.

One inning later, UL blew the game open with a six-run 3rd, taking a 10-2 lead.

While the hitting was exemplary, the Ragin' Cajun pitching was great as well.

Starting Brandon Talley earned the win, going 6.0 innings, allowing 7 hits and two earned runs.

Relievers Dylan Theut, Jake Hammond, and Austin Perrin tossed 1 inning each to close out the victory.

"Talley just looked rock solid," said Deggs. "We got him through 6, and (Dylan) Theut did a good job in that spot (in the 7th)...I thought Jake Hammond looked real good tonight..and it was good to see AP (Austin Perrin) get out of there at the end."

Perrin struck out the side to end the contest, giving Louisiana 15 total strikeouts on the night.

With the victory, UL improves to 19-14 on the season, and 8-5 in Sun Belt play.

"I've been saying we're a product of our (difficult) schedule (earlier this season)," explained Deggs. "It's toughened us up and weathered us to an extent."

Louisiana will seek their 6th consecutive win tomorrow night at Russo Park as they host ULM in game two of the conference series.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 pm, with pregame beginning at 5:30 on NewsTalk 96.5 KPEL.
