Saints Sign T.Y. McGill

The New Orleans Saints have added another player to help their depleted defensive line.

The team inked free agent defensive lineman T.Y. McGill on Wednesday.

McGill takes the roster spot of defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins, who suffered an ankle injury in Sunday's 48-46 loss to the San Franciso 49ers, and placed on injured reserve.

Also on Wednesday, the Saints signed former Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive end Noah Spence, after placing defensive end Marcus Davenport on injured reserve.

The 27-year old McGill has spent time with the Indianapolis Colts (2015-2016), Cleveland Browns (2017), Philadelphia Eagles (2018), and Los Angeles Chargers (2018) prior to this season.

The 6-foot, 300-pound McGill spent two weeks with the Washington Redskins in September, before being waived and signed by the Chargers in October, where he appeared in three games.

McGill, who played his college football at North Carolina St., was waived on November 30th.

In parts of five seasons in the NFL, McGill has accumulated 25 tackles, including five sacks.
