The second-ranked LSU Tigers opened up weekend play defeating the Virginia Tech Hokies, 9-0, in non-conference action on Friday night at Alex Box Stadium at Skip Bertman Field.
For the second time in as many nights, a missed field goal in overtime proved to be the deciding factor in a BCS bowl game. Michigan edged Virginia Tech, 23-20, after Hokies kicker Justin Myer missed a 37-yard field goal in the first overtime, allowing Michigan to kick a field goal of its own for the win moments later.
LSU and Alabama still look destined for a rematch in the BCS title game.
LSU remains No. 1 in the BCS standings, after defeating Arkansas last Friday, 41-17, to clinch the Tigers a spot in this year's SEC Championship Game.
The Tigers will play Georgia for the SEC title this Saturday.
Alabama stays in the number two spot in the BCS standings, after a convincing 42-14 win over Auburn, last Saturday
Who is your college football team, this year?
that may seem like a strange question, because for most of you, you have the same favorite team every year, like Louisiana's Raign' Cajuns, the LSU Tigers, or somebody else.
