Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns stood toe to toe with the Tulsa Golden Hurricane through the first three quarters.

If Tulsa would score, the Cajuns offense would come back and do the same.

Heading into Saturday's road game, coach Mark Hudspeth knew it would take a lot of points to keep up with the explosive Golden Hurricane offense.

Late in the 3rd, Louisiana's first two turnovers of the season, coupled with some missed PATs earlier in the game, helped Tulsa pull away from the Cajuns, and eventually win a high scoring affair by the score of 66-42.

"Our offense found an identity, they kept us in the game," said Louisiana head coach Mark Hudspeth. "Our defensive played terrible today."

By the time the final seconds ticked off the clock, the two squads combined for 1268 yards (Tulsa 672, Louisiana 596), 108 points and 61 first downs (Tulsa 34, Louisiana 27).

"We played terrible on defense today," Hudspeth bluntly noted after the loss.

Tulsa running back D'Angelo Brewer gashed the Cajun defense for 262 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns, averaging 6.9 yards a carry.

Golden Hurricane runners combined for 424 yards on the ground.

The Cajuns offense put together a nice performance of their own, but two failed 4th down attempts and two turnovers took away an opportunity at victory.

Louisiana quarterback Jordan Davis played well, throwing 309 yards on 21 of 32 passes for 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. He also rushed for 60 yards and 2 scores.

Redshirt freshmen running back Trey Ragas was outstanding, averaging over 10 yards a carry, on his way to 130 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries.

True freshmen running back Elijah Mitchell was just as effective, going for 84 yards and a touchdown on only 8 carries. Plus, the former Erath prep star reeled in a 19 yard pass for a touchdown.

Ragin' Cajun wide receiver Ryheem Malone (8 receptions, 119 yards) and Keenan Barnes (6 receptions, 102 yards, 1 touchdown) both went over the century mark.

Next week, Louisiana travels to Texas A&M for an 11:00am kickoff against the Aggies of the SEC. Pregame begins at 9am on ESPN1420 and ESPN1420.com.
