UCONN Wins Eighth Women’s Championship
Freshman Breanna Stewart scored 18 of her 23 points in the first half, and Connecticut rolled to a 93-60 win over Louisville to claim their eighth women's basketball championship.
The win ties Geno Auriemma with legendary coach Pat Summitt for the most women's titles in NCAA history.
UCONN (35-4) trailed 14-10, but then went on a 19-0 run to seize control of the game. The Huskies led 48-29 at the half and continued to pour it on after intermission.
Stewart was named the Final Four's Most Outstanding Player. She's the first freshman to win that award since 1987.
