Ragin' Cajun Softball is off to an incredibly hot, 13-0, start after picking up two more wins in dominant fashion over Hofstra and Missouri State.

The aces were on display on Saturday, with Christina Hamilton getting the nod against Hofstra and Jordan Wallace commanding the circle in the second portion of the double-header. Both pitchers delivered in splendid fashion, but what else would you expect?

Hamilton pitched five innings to start off the day against Hofstra, and left with the same ERA she started the day with: 0.00. Kylee Jo Trahan came in to finish off the 9-0 shutout that ended via the mercy rule after six. Shellie Landry did the majority of the damage with her bat, picking up 4 RBI's and logging a line drive three-run-HR to add to her solid start to the season.

Landry wasn't done for the day, blasting another two-run-HR in the second game against the Bears of Missouri State to push her RBI total for the day to six. She ended the day with team high marks in HR's (7) and RBI's (17) for the season.

The Cajuns picked up three more runs in the bottom of the six to make the final scoreline 5-0 off an RBI triple from Aleah Craighton and two sneaky double-steals, but they only needed one run because Jordan Wallace was almost untouchable again.

"Almost" is a crucial word there. Wallace had a no-hitter going with two outs in the 7th inning, but what would have been the final piece of the puzzle decided to single in between third base and short stop to ruin the masterpiece. A complete-game, one-hit shutout certainly isn't a slouch effort. She even struck out six straight batters at one point.

Wallace was superb. When fans worried about Hamilton's health after missing action to start the season, she came out and silenced those worries for the second straight day by delivering a calm and calculated performance. It raises the question, how good can this Cajun team be?

The best start to a Ragin' Cajun Softball season came in 2012, when they rattled off an incredible 29 games at the beginning of the season. The current squad just broke into the 'teens, but the promise and upside is there.

Not only did the redshirt freshman outfielder Craighton triple in a run against Missouri State, she also gunned down a runner at second base against Hofstra that ended the inning and probably kept runs off the board. Multiple Cajuns reached on bunt singles in the double-header and they executed two double-steals in the sixth inning against the Bears for the fourth and fifth runs to ice the game. Clear signs of growing confidence.

Hofstra was one of only two teams to even score on the Cajuns this year, putting up three runs in their loss on Friday night. That  leads us to a very scary cumulative statistic to summarize how dominant UL Softball has been on the year: Cajuns 111, Opponents 4. Let that marinate.

The Cajuns only have one game left to complete their sweep of the 2015 Ragin' Cajun Invitational, Sunday (first pitch approximately 2:30) against a talented McNeese State team.
