West Tops East In NBA All Star Game, Chris Paul Named MVP

The NBA's best gathered Sunday night in Houston for the 62nd All-Star game in league history. Offense dominated for the first three quarters before each squad cracked down on defense in the final frame. In the end, it was Chris Paul leading the Western Conference All-Stars to a 143-138 victory.

Paul, who earned game MVP honors, became the third player in ASG history with 20 points and 15 assists (Magic Johnson, Isiah Thomas). He also added 4 steals in becoming the first ever Los Angeles Clipper to earn ASG MVP. (Randy Smith of the '78 Clipper franchise won the award before the team moved to L.A.)

Thunder forward Kevin Durant added 30 for the West, while Clipper power forward Blake Griffin finished with 19.

The East was led by NY Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony and his 26 points. Miami Heat teammates LeBron James and Dwyane Wade scored 19 and 21 respectively.

The West winners receive $50,000 compared to East's $25,000 for the loss.
