Who is the best player the New Orleans Saints ever drafted from the Wisconsin Badgers?

From May 1 until the start of the 2016 NFL season on September 11, we’re going to list the best players that the Saints ever drafted from all 128 FBS schools, as of 2015.

Of course, there are a number of schools, including Air Force, Appalachian St., Arizona, Army, Baylor, Boise St., Bowling Green, Buffalo, Central Florida, Central Michigan, East Carolina, FAU, FIU, Hawaii, ULM, Miami (Ohio), Marshall, Middle Tennessee, Navy, Nevada, New Mexico, New Mexico St., Ohio, Rice, Rutgers, San Jose St., South Alabama, South Florida, Southern Miss, TCU, Temple, Texas St., Toledo, Troy, and UTEP, in which the Saints have never drafted a player.

Earlier, we looked at the best player that the Saints ever drafted out of Western Michigan.

Today, we spotlight the best player the Saints ever drafted from Wisconsin.

When it comes to deciding who the best player from Wisconsin, ever drafted by the Saints is, the choice is limited to receiver Lee DeRamus (1995), offensive lineman Glenn Derby (1988), defensive back David Greenwood (1983), defensive lineman Jason Jefferson (2005), and kicker Taylor Mehlhaff (2008).

This is far from a sterling group, but the pick is going to be DeRamus, a receiver, who played 2 years for the Saints, from 1995-1996.

The reason? very simple; he played the most years, and the most games of the bunch.

A native of Stratford, New Jersey, DeRamus was selected by the Saints in the 6th round of the 1995 NFL Draft.

The 6-foot, 205-pound DeRamus played in 8 games as a rookie, all as a reserve, making 6 catches for 76 yards.

In 1996, his final year in New Orleans, and his final year in the NFL, DeRamus appeared in 15 games, including 4 starts, while making 15 receptions for 182 yards and a touchdown.

In two NFL seasons, all with the Saints, DeRamus appeared in 23 games, including 2 starts, while compiling 21 catches for 258 yards and one touchdown.
