The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns have learned they will face UC Irvine of the Big West Conference in the quarterfinal round of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament.  The game will be Wednesday night at 7:15 at the Cajundome.

The Anteaters tied with Hawai'i for the regular season BIg West Championship and are 26-9 on the year.  They lost to Long Beach State in the Big West Semifinals, 77-72.  UCI defeated North Dakota in overtime 89-86 in the CIT first round and received a bye in the second round.

UC Irvine is led by two first-team Big West all -conference players in guard Luke Nelson and center Mamadou Ndiaye.  Nelson is the team's leading scorer at 13.9 points per game  He leads the squad with 76 three point shots made on the season.  Ndiaye was named the Big West Defensive Player of the Year for the second straight year.  The 7-6, 300 lb senior from Senegal averages 12.5 points and 7.2 rebounds per contest.  He also has 84 blocked shots in 35 games this season.  UL forward Shawn Long alluded to having to guard Ndiaye on his Twitter account last night.

This is the second trip to the CIT quarterfinals for the Cajuns in as many seasons.  Louisiana lost to Evansville, the eventual champion, last year at Blackham Coliseum.

In other quarterfinal matchups, Grand Canyon is at Coastal Carolina, Ball State will be at Columbia and the winner of tonight's game between Boston University and NJIT will take on UT Arlington.
