On a day in which Hornets fans were celebrating the purchase of their team by Tom Benson, their favorite basketball team gave them an exciting 96-85 victory over the Utah Jazz.

New Orleans shooting guard Eric Gordon (pictured left) stole the show, shooting 11-18 from the field for 25 points. Late in the game, he stepped back and made a 23-foot jumper right in Gordon Hayward's face. The 3 pointer was the exclamation point in the 4th quarter when the Hornets began to pull away.

Hornets Center Chris Kaman scored 19, while starters Greivis Vasquez and Al-Farouq Aminu chipped in with 11.

The win capped off an incredible day for New Orleans. Hours earlier, Saints owner Tom Benson agreed to buy the Hornets from the NBA, virtually assuring the club's long-term presence in Louisiana. Couple that with Eric Gordon's performance in only his sixth game of the season, and fans of the fleur-de-bees had plenty to smile about on Friday the 13th.

The Hornets have won 3 of 4 and will finish up their 5 game homestand on Sunday as they host the Memphis Grizzlies. Tip-off from the Hive is set for 6:00.
