Nick Lee pitched six innings of shutout baseball on Sunday, and the LSWA recognized his performance by naming him one of their Players of the Week.

Lee is the third Cajun pitcher and fourth player of Tony Robichaux's to be recognized by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association, and he's living up to all the hype as the fantastic freshman.

With players like Lee, there's something special inside. Coach Robe saw he could be a shutdown arm immediately.

"We knew that when we got him," Robe said. "We thought he was going to be a premium arm."

"Premium" is a good way to describe Lee's pitching. Opponents are only hitting .199 against him (2nd best in the Sun Belt), and his 2.63 ERA is straight up salty for a Sunday starter. His eight strikeouts against Texas State on Sunday were impressive, but his consistency throughout the year has been key.

With a freshman, you expect some hiccups. Lee refuses to be rattled. Even when he feels a little "off," he still knows his role.

"Whenever you don't have your stuff you just have to grind through it and get them with your B-game," Lee said.

Lee doesn't have to worry about using his B-game right now. His pitching put him on the A-list, and it got him some nice ink from the LSWA as the cherry on top.
