Legendary Sports Broadcaster Pat Summerall Passes Away

Legendary sports broadcaster Pat Summerall passed away today at the age of 82. He died of cardiac arrest at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.

Summerall's best work was alongside fellow legendary broadcaster John Madden. The two worked together for nearly two decades, calling several Super Bowls.

In espn.com's coverage of the story, Madden said, "Pat was my broadcasting partner for a long time, but more than that he was my friend for all of these years. We never had one argument, and that was because of Pat. He was a great broadcaster and a great man. ... Pat Summerall is the voice of football and always will be."

In addition to broadcasting 26 Super Bowls (16 for TV, 10 for radio), Summerall covered the PGA Tour, the Masters, and the U.S. Open in tennis. His career spanned over four decades.
