LSU Remains Undefeated After Beating Auburn In Rainy Game

"Chance of rain? Never."

LSU's PA announcer makes the statement before every home football game at Tiger Stadium. Obviously, he doesn't mean literally, because it was literally raining buckets Saturday night in Tiger stadium.

All the rain couldn't slow down LSU (4-0, 1-0), who opened up SEC play with a solid 35-21 victory over the Auburn Tigers.

LSU running back Jeremy Hill led the way in the rushing department, scampering for 183 yards and 3 touchdowns. By the time both teams jogged to the tunnel for halftime, LSU was up 21-0.

The second half was more of a grind, but LSU's passing game kept the chains moving. Zach Mettenberger did throw his first interception of the season, but made up for it by completing 22 passes for 229 yards and a touchdown.

LSU wide receiver Jarvis Landry made several sensational plays, including a 32 yard touchdown catch and run (pictured below).

As LSU's offense continues to click under new offensive coordinator Cam Cameron, the Tiger defense continues to show weaknesses. Auburn racked up 437 total yards of offense (224 passing, 217 rushing).

The days of LSU winning games 9-6 or 12-10 are over for the foreseeable future. While the Tigers have leaned on a stout defense in recent years, the 2013 squad continues to lean on the offense.

Next week, #6 LSU will tackle their toughest foe of the season when they travel to Athens for a showdown with the #9 Georgia Bulldogs. Kickoff is set for 2:30.
