The New Orleans Pelicans can't seem to get out of their own way. After a solid first half, things fell apart late in the 3rd quarter Monday night in Sacramento. The result was an 8th straight loss for the Pels, this one ending in a 96-89 defeat to the Kings.

Sacramento had issues of their own, shooting 1-7 from beyond the arc, and turned it over 18 times, twice as much as New Orleans. However, the Kings owned the paint, the boards, and the charity stripe, getting to the line 41 times. The Pelicans were called for 35 fouls, unable to contain DeMarcus Cousins.

Despite only playing 28 minutes because of his own foul trouble, Cousins scored a team-high 23, going 13-16 from the free throw line. Isiah Thomas (22 points) owned the Pelicans guards, driving by Brian Roberts with relative ease throughout the night.

The lone New Orleans bright spot Monday night was a former Sacramento King. Tyreke Evans (pictured) scored a game-high 27 points, pulled down 10 boards, and dished out 8 assists. For a player who spent the first 4 seasons of his career in Sacramento, Evans seemed as comfortable as he's been all season with the Pelicans.

All-Star Anthony Davis didn't have a great outing by his standards. Typically good for a double-double, Davis finished with 13 points on 4-14 shooting. He could only muster 2 assists and 4 rebounds.

Speaking of rebounding, it was undoubtedly the biggest difference in the game. Simply put, the Kings killed the Pelicans on the glass all night, finishing with 47 rebounds compared to the Pels 30.

The Pelicans have not won since before the All-Star break (February 12 at Milwaukee). They'll attempt to snap their 8 game skid Tuesday night in Los Angeles against the Lakers. Tip-off is set for 9:30.
