Saints Place Vilma On PUP List, Arrington Resigns
The New Orleans Saints made several roster moves Monday, including placing linebacker Jonathan Vilma on the PUP (physically unable to perform) list due to a knee injury. This means Vilma can participate in team meetings and use the Saints' medical and training facilities. However, he cannot practice with the team.
After week 7 (following the Saints sixth game), the three-time Pro Bowler will be allowed to begin practicing and the Saints will have a three-week window to decide whether or not to activate him onto the active roster. As long as he's on the PUP list, Vilma will not count against the 53-man roster limit.
Another New Orleans roster move of note is the resigning of fifth-year wide receiver Adrian Arrington. Arrington was released on Saturday as he continues to deal with a nagging knee injury. If Arrington is healthy, he might suit up on Sunday against the Carolina Panthers. Starting WR Devery Henderson suffered a concussion in the Week 1 loss to the Redskins. His status for Sunday is unknown at this time.
