After the Saints blown call in the NFC Championship, there seems to be several changes taking place.

We learned that it was voted on 31-1 for pass interference calls and non-calls will be able to be challenged. That's one big change coming to the NFL next season.

The other change, however, has to do with the harassing of referees. Obviously, people in the Superdome were none too happy with the referees after the blown call. I think knowing that I blew that obvious of a call, I would fear for my safety immediately.

A new bill that was filed this week is protecting sports referees.

State Rep. Cameron Henry (R-Metairie) crafted the legislation, which would subject offenders to fines and jail time. The penalty would apply to anyone whose actions cause a school or recreational game official to "fear for safety," particularly during a sporting event or near the venue.

The fine would be up to $500 and up to 90 days in jail.

The state House's criminal justice committee will have to vote on the bill. They will start their session on April 8th.
